Garry Homer, technical director at e-IC, and Richard Przeplata, senior consultant, provided the guests with a tour and presentation of the Centre's facilities, including demonstrations of the latest ICT technology.
The e-IC is currently showcasing two new technologies: the "intelligent poster" allows specific, requested information to be downloaded to a mobile phone and the "smart card" uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to identify and track the entry and movement of individuals within a building.
Simone said: "It has been a wonderful opportunity for Claudette and myself to visit the UK and see for ourselves some of the ground-breaking work being done in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in centres such as the e-IC. We will definitely be implementing some of the ideas we have seen here when we return to St Vincent. More importantly we hope to continue to learn from the links we have formed and hopefully we will be able to share some of our own experience as well."
Built as part of a £7 million project funded by Advantage West Midlands, the European Regional Development Fund and the University of Wolverhampton, the e-IC provides facilities for start-up and growing businesses to have state-of-the-art business accommodation and hi-tech support from a team of consultants.| < Prev | Next > |
